Tonight at youth group I will be going over these items but I wanted to share them with you in email as well. Please let me know if you have any questions about what we have coming up. Over the next few months we have a few different activities and I would like for you to respond to this email to let me know which events you intend to attend so that I can ensure that we have enough interest.
1. On the weekend of May 3-4th we will be doing the 30-Hour Famine. In order to participate, you will need to get sponsors to help raise funds for World Vision which is an organization that does amazing work in 3rd world countries and supplies medical needed in order to give those who may not have a chance at life a chance. What we will do is after lunch on May 3rd, you will not eat again until dinner on May 4th when we are at the church together. At 5pm May 3rd, you will come to the church for us to have a lock in where we focus on what it would be like to live in a 3rd world country through a variety of activities. Then on May 4th, we will do a variety of service projects in order to help around our community. In the afternoon we will spend some time reflecting on our experience while ultimately ending with dinner. In order for this to happen, I am still in need of some adult volunteers for all areas (helping with games, dinner prep, overnight, etc…). Please let me know if you are able to help.
2. On the calendar, we indicated that May 19th would be a day to have a worship service for all graduating seniors in Chillicothe. However due to a lack of interest from the other churches, we are going to keep it here at home at Walnut Street. On May 19th, we will recognize the Seniors of our congregation in the worship service of their choice. This year, I would like to start a new tradition by having a church cook-out after church in their honor. We will invite the entire congregation to stay in order to recognize them. I will be asking the congregation for the help of food donations but I am in need of your volunteerism to help set-up, cook and clean-up. Let's have a great bash for our seniors!
3. Lastly is the mission trip. At this point I have heard from 4 youth that they will be participating in this years mission trip. If I don't get any more responses, I will need to make a decision as to how we can make our mission experience a little different this summer. Please let me know by the end of the week if you plan to go. Please respond if you are 100% committed because I need to finalize our mission trip in Cincinnati and I need to know we have a committed group. I am also in need of one more female and male volunteer. The trip is currently scheduled for June 5th (evening) - 9th (evening).
In Christ,
Matt Ballentine
